Winter means a lot of citrus and extra efforts to prepare juices. There is no doubt that fruit juice is better than soft drinks and alcohol, but the question here is; What kind of fruit juice – packaged or fresh?
Let's talk about packaged juice first. Packaged juice can be juices with or without added sugar. Real and Tropicana are famous packaged fruit juices that are loaded with sugar (read Enemy of Health). Real Active does not contain sugar.
Do not go on Miss Basu's slim figure, apni akal lagaao 😛! Packaged juice is bad, with or without sugar. Why ? Read this news –
This announcement came a few days after the Chinese newspaper 21st Century Business Herald published a detailed exposé advising three of China's largest juice producers to buy rancid or premature fruit and process it into juice or juice concentrate. A disappointing harvest that year resulted in a shortage of fruit for the juice as "good" fruit hit the fruit retail market.
In all fairness, it's a known fact that most packaged juices are made from spoiled fruit. Now let's talk about fresh fruit juice, which also means the trendy cold-pressed juices.
The question arises, which is better – fruit or fruit juice?
Fruits contain fiber, which gives the stool more volume. The fiber in the fruit juice is either low or absent. Fiber is lost when making juice. Why ? This is because the peel and most of the pulp are thrown away when making the juice.
The fruit peel supplies the body with nutrients and lowers the risk of cancer. Fruit pulp contains many vital nutrients that are destroyed when juicing. For example, orange pulp contains vitamin C, most of which is lost when pulp is removed.
Fruit juice can raise blood sugar faster and cause stomach problems too.
Regardless of how the fruit juice is prepared, the nutrients can only be obtained through the whole fruit!
So what do you say Which is better – fruit or fruit juice?
For us, instead of swallowing the sugar-laden glass of juice, we plan to enjoy our fresh crispy fruit, at least until we get our teeth healthy enough to chew and enjoy the crispness.
Happy Eating Fruits 🙂!
